Ep 8. Instant Restaurant Round 2: David & Corinne (QLD)

David and Corinne from Queensland are up for Round 2 of the Instant Restaurant Round on My Kitchen Rules season 5 episode 8. After being criticized for their lack of flavor in the first round, the duo is determined to make a comeback and impress judges Manu Feildel and Pete Evans with their sophisticated menu.

David and Corinne decide to go with a French-inspired menu, beginning with a seared scallop with apple puree, pancetta crisps, and sherry vinaigrette for their entrée. For the main course, they serve up a classic beef bourguignon with buttery mashed potatoes and green beans. And for dessert, they whip up a chocolate fondant with passionfruit sorbet.

The contestants work furiously to prepare their dishes and the pressure is high as they set up their restaurant for the night. The guests begin to arrive and are greeted with glasses of champagne before being seated at the beautifully decorated tables.

As the meal progresses, tensions rise in the kitchen as David and Corinne struggle to keep up with the demands of the guests. They start to worry whether the beef bourguignon is cooked through properly and if the chocolate fondant will turn out as planned. However, they push through and manage to get everything out on time.

The judges are impressed with the entrée, praising the scallops and crispy pancetta, but they feel that the sherry vinaigrette is too overpowering. For the main course, they love the flavors of the beef bourguignon, but again, they think that it is slightly overpowered by the red wine. The judges' biggest critiques, however, are saved for the dessert as they find the chocolate fondant undercooked and the passionfruit sorbet too acidic.

Despite the critiques, David and Corinne are able to earn a respectable score from the judges and their fellow contestants. They are relieved to have made it through Round 2, but they know that they still have a lot of work to do if they want to make it through to the finale.

As the episode ends, the contestants prepare to face off in the next Instant Restaurant Round, hopeful that they can wow the judges and make it one step closer to becoming the ultimate champions of My Kitchen Rules season 5.
