Ep 7. Instant Restaurant Round 2: Uel & Shannelle (NSW)

Uel and Shannelle, a married couple from New South Wales, are the second team to host their instant restaurant in the fifth season of My Kitchen Rules. The couple has a lot to prove after their fellow NSW team, Paul and Blair, delivered a disappointing meal and landed at the bottom of the leaderboard in the previous episode. The pressure is on as Uel and Shannelle welcome the other teams into their home and serve up a three-course meal.

The menu is inspired by the couple's Filipino heritage and features dishes such as adobo chicken, sinigang soup, and a dessert called halo-halo. However, their ambitious plans soon start to unravel when they struggle to keep up with the demands of cooking for a large group of people in their small kitchen. Shannelle becomes overwhelmed and emotional, leaving Uel to take charge and keep the team on track.

As the night progresses, tensions rise between the teams. There's a heated argument between siblings Katie and Nikki and friends Eva and Debra over the quality of the food, with accusations of undercooked chicken and over-seasoned dishes flying back and forth. Meanwhile, Kelly and Chloe, the only all-female team left in the competition, try to stay out of the drama and focus on their own cooking.

The judges, Pete and Manu, deliver their verdict on the meal, with some dishes receiving high praise and others falling short. They praise Uel and Shannelle's adobo chicken for its tender meat and rich flavor but express disappointment at their lack of attention to detail in plating up the dishes. The sinigang soup is a hit, with Pete declaring it the best soup he's ever had on the show. However, the halo-halo fails to impress, with Manu describing it as messy and lacking in flavor.

Once the scores are added up, Uel and Shannelle breathe a sigh of relief as they come out on top, narrowly beating brothers Josh and Andi and landing at the top of the leaderboard. Kelly and Chloe come in second, with Eva and Debra in third place. Katie and Nikki and Paul and Blair land at the bottom, putting them at risk of elimination.

As the teams head back to their own homes, the competition starts to heat up. With tensions running high and every team determined to prove themselves, the next instant restaurant is sure to be full of drama, surprises, and, of course, delicious food.
