In the eighth season of the British sitcom My Family, the second episode titled "Let's Not Be Heisty" is all about Roger and Abi's wedding anniversary. The couple have been married for fifteen years and are planning a romantic evening at home, but things take a turn when they accidentally get involved in a heist.
The episode begins with Roger (Robert Lindsay) and Abi (Zoë Wanamaker) preparing for their anniversary dinner. They are excited about spending a quiet evening at home, just the two of them, until a group of robbers crashes into their house. The robbers have mistaken their house for a wealthy family's home, which they were planning to rob.
The robbers take Roger and Abi hostage and demand that they give them access to their safe. Things get even more complicated when Ben (Daniel Roche) arrives home and gets caught up in the situation. Meanwhile, Michael (Gabriel Thomson) and Nick (Kris Marshall) are trying to plan a surprise anniversary party for Roger and Abi, but they can't seem to get in touch with them.
As the night progresses, the situation becomes increasingly tense. The robbers become more aggressive and Roger and Abi's attempts to reason with them fall on deaf ears. Ben tries to help his parents by pretending to be a burglar, but his plan backfires and he ends up being held captive along with them.
Meanwhile, Michael and Nick are desperately trying to locate Roger and Abi. They eventually track down their location and devise a plan to rescue them. However, their plan doesn't go quite according to plan and they end up causing even more confusion.
In the end, everyone manages to escape unharmed, but the whole ordeal has left Roger and Abi shaken. They agree that they never want to go through something like that again and decide to just celebrate their anniversary quietly at home. Michael and Nick help them to set up a romantic dinner, complete with candles and music.
"Let's Not Be Heisty" is a classic episode of My Family, full of the hilarious misunderstandings and hijinks that the show is known for. Despite the serious subject matter of the episode, the writers manage to keep things light and funny throughout. The interplay between the characters is as witty and sharp as ever, and the performances are top-notch.
Overall, this episode is a great example of why My Family was such a beloved sitcom. It's funny, heartwarming, and always manages to find the humor in even the most challenging of situations. Fans of the show will definitely want to check it out.
