Ep 2. Episode 2
My Dear Boy is a Taiwanese drama that centers on the romance between two individuals who are forced to confront their past and their own beliefs about love. The series follows Luo Xi (Greg Han), a successful CEO who has never forgotten his first love, and Xia Yu (Tiffany Ann Hsu), a hardworking veterinarian who has never had a serious relationship. Episode 2 picks up where the previous installment left off, with Luo Xi and Xia Yu finally meeting each other after years of separation.
The episode begins with Luo Xi and Xia Yu being introduced to each other in a restaurant. Although they are both surprised to see each other after so long, they quickly fall into their old dynamic, teasing each other and chatting as if no time has passed at all. However, as the night wears on, it becomes clear that there is a lot of tension simmering beneath the surface of their easy banter.
As Luo Xi and Xia Yu talk, they begin to rehash the events of their past, particularly the circumstances that led to their separation. Although it's clear that they still care about each other deeply, they both have reservations about picking up where they left off. Luo Xi, for his part, is hesitant to pursue Xia Yu, knowing that his powerful family expects him to marry someone of their choosing. Xia Yu, on the other hand, is determined to focus on her career and isn't sure that she wants to be involved with someone as complicated as Luo Xi.
Despite these obstacles, Luo Xi and Xia Yu continue to spend time together, determined to explore their feelings for each other. The episode does an excellent job of building tension between the two characters and creating an atmosphere of uncertainty about whether they will actually take the leap and start a relationship. This tension is heightened by the fact that Luo Xi has a lot to lose if he pursues Xia Yu - he risks alienating his family and jeopardizing his career if he doesn't toe the line.
In addition to exploring Luo Xi and Xia Yu's relationship, Episode 2 also introduces several new characters who will likely play important roles in the series going forward. One of these characters is Cheng Hao (Shen Meng Sheng), a successful businessman who is interested in working with Luo Xi. Although Cheng Hao initially appears friendly and helpful, it quickly becomes apparent that he may have ulterior motives. Another character introduced in this episode is Xia Yu's best friend, Fang Xin Rou (Yishi Liu), who provides some lighthearted comic relief as well as valuable advice for Xia Yu.
Overall, Episode 2 of My Dear Boy is a satisfying continuation of the story that began in the series premiere. It builds tension effectively and establishes some interesting new plotlines that will undoubtedly come into play as the series progresses. Although some viewers may find the pacing a bit slow, the episode's focus on character development and relationship-building should keep most viewers engaged.
