In the fourth episode of season 9 of My Cat From Hell, titled "Feral Shop Cat," cat behavior expert Jackson Galaxy is called to assist a family-owned hardware store in Colorado where a wild, untamed cat has taken up residence. The shop cat, named Duf, is a feral cat who was brought in to control the rodent population in the store. However, Duf is aggressive, unpredictable and has caused several employees to get injured. The store owners, Michelle and her father John, are at their wit's end and have tried multiple methods to calm down Duf, but they have all failed.
Jackson arrives at the store and immediately notices the tension in the air. Duf is hiding somewhere amongst the shelves, and Jackson knows that he'll have to take a different approach with the feral cat to gain his trust. Jackson chooses to use his "mystical" powers to sense where Duf is, which he says is a technique he learned from Native American shamans. Jackson soon finds Duf hiding on a shelf and observes his behavior before slowly approaching him.
Jackson then advises the store owners on the steps they will need to take to tame Duf. He recommends that they create a safe space for the cat where he feels secure and comfortable. They will need to create a routine for feeding Duf and try to interact with him through a rope toy under a closed door. Jackson also stresses the importance of patience and consistency in dealing with a feral cat.
After a few days, Jackson returns to the store to check on Duf's progress. To everyone's surprise, Duf is already a changed cat. He is more relaxed, approachable and is even allowing Jackson to pet him. Jackson continues to monitor Duf's behavior and makes a few final adjustments before he declares that the rehabilitation process is successful.
The episode ends with Duf being adopted by one of the store's employees, who has fallen in love with him. The hardware shop owners are beyond happy that Duf can finally live a happy life, and the store can now operate without a troublesome feral cat.
