MXC, also known as Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, is a hilarious Japanese game show that has been dubbed into English and taken the United States by storm. Season 2 episode 8, titled "Former Olympians," is no exception to the show's ridiculous antics and absurd challenges.
The episode starts with the usual introduction by hosts Vic Romano and Kenny Blankenship as they explain the rules of the game and introduce the two teams competing against each other. This week, the teams are made up of former Olympians, who are competing not for gold medals, but for the honor of being crowned MXC champions.
The first challenge is called "Sinkers and Floaters," and it involves the contestants hopping across various platforms that are either buoyant or sinking. The goal is to reach the other side of the pool without falling into the water. Of course, this is easier said than done, and plenty of contestants end up splashing into the pool, much to the amusement of their teammates.
Next up is "Muddy Waters," where the contestants must make their way across a giant mud pit while dodging swinging pendulums and other obstacles. The mud makes the challenge even more difficult, as it's hard to gain traction and keep your balance. Many contestants end up taking a tumble in the mud, much to the delight of the crowd.
The third challenge is "Rolling the Dice," and it involves the contestants jumping onto a large dice and being tossed towards a giant target. The goal is to land on the target and score points for your team. However, the dice is rigged with explosives, so a misstep can send you flying into the air and onto the ground. This challenge is particularly entertaining, as some of the contestants seem to have no idea what they're doing and end up rolling off the dice before they even get a chance to jump.
The fourth challenge is "Saddle Sores," and it involves the contestants riding bucking mechanical bulls. The catch is that the bulls are set to a higher level of difficulty for the former Olympians, to make it even more challenging. This challenge is definitely one of the more entertaining ones, as the contestants struggle to hang on while the bulls buck wildly underneath them.
The fifth and final challenge is "Wall Bangers," where the contestants must climb up and shimmy across a series of walls while avoiding giant swinging pendulums and other obstacles. This challenge is more like an obstacle course than a straight-up race, and it requires a lot of strategy and agility to complete successfully. Some of the contestants make it look easy, while others struggle to even make it up the first wall.
Throughout the challenges, Vic and Kenny provide hilarious commentary and make fun of the contestants' missteps and epic fails. They're definitely a big part of what makes the show so entertaining, and it's clear that they're having just as much fun as the contestants themselves.
At the end of the five challenges, the scores are tallied up and one team is crowned the winner. Of course, the contestants don't leave empty-handed, as they get a chance to take home a variety of hilarious prizes, like a year's supply of peanut butter and jelly or a lifetime subscription to the "Mystery Meat of the Month Club."
Overall, "Former Olympians" is a great episode of MXC that showcases the show's unique brand of humor and crazy challenges. It's definitely a must-watch for fans of absurd game shows and anyone looking for a good laugh.
