In Murdoch Mysteries season 5 episode 3, entitled "The Evil Eye of Egypt," Detective William Murdoch and his team are called upon to investigate the suspicious death of a man named Mr. Gideon Turner. Turner was experimenting with electricity and had recently claimed to have invented a new form of energy that could revolutionize the world, making him a target for those seeking to steal his invention.
The case takes an unexpected turn when Murdoch discovers that Turner had recently acquired an ancient Egyptian artifact called the Eye of Ra, known for its supposed power to curse those who possess it. Some of the suspects in the case begin to believe that the Eye of Ra is responsible for Turner's death and that its curse has now fallen upon them.
As Murdoch delves deeper into the investigation, he encounters the beautiful and mysterious Egyptologist, Dr. Iris Bajjali. Dr. Bajjali claims to have knowledge of the Eye of Ra's powers and warns Murdoch to be careful, as the curse could spread to anyone connected to the case.
Meanwhile, Constable Crabtree becomes enamored with the spiritualist, Miss Sophia Landry, who claims to be able to communicate with the dead. Crabtree is convinced that she can help them solve the case and begins to spend more and more time with her, much to the disapproval of his colleagues.
As the investigation continues, the body count rises and the pressure mounts for Murdoch to solve the case before more lives are lost. With the help of his team and Dr. Bajjali, Murdoch uncovers a sinister plot involving theft, betrayal, and murder, in a case that takes him from the streets of Toronto to the deserts of Egypt.
In "The Evil Eye of Egypt," viewers are treated to a thrilling mystery that combines elements of science, history, and the supernatural. With the usual expert pacing, acting, and cinematography, Murdoch Mysteries once again delivers a top-notch episode that will keep fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.
