Ep 20. Shear Madness

In Murder, She Wrote season 6 episode 20 entitled Shear Madness, Jessica visits a small town called Cabot Cove, where she meets her old friend Seth Hazlitt. While discussing a recent case he has come across, Seth takes note of a potential murder that he thinks may have occurred.

Seth's suspicions arise following the death of a local farmer named Emmett Coughlin, who was believed to have died in a tragic farming accident. Coughlin's body was discovered by his daughter, who found him tangled in a piece of farming machinery.

However, the more that Seth looks into the case, the more he becomes convinced that there was foul play involved. He visits the site of the accident and finds several suspicious details, which motivate him to contact Jessica so that she can help him investigate the case further.

Once Jessica arrives in town, she begins to piece together the clues that Seth has found. She interviews the local townspeople, including Coughlin's family and friends, as well as other farmers in the area. Through these interviews, she learns that Coughlin had quite a few enemies, owing to his unscrupulous business practices.

One particularly contentious issue was Coughlin's dealings with a group of local wool growers, who accused him of cheating them out of their profits. Jessica delves deeper into this issue and eventually discovers that the wool growers had a motive to want Coughlin dead.

However, soon after discovering this information, Jessica receives some unsettling news. Another farmer in the area has been found dead, and this time there is no doubt that it was murder. The victim's body was discovered in a barn, with his throat slashed and his body positioned to look as if he had been gored by a bull.

Jessica must now race against time to figure out who is behind the murders and stop them before they strike again. She uses her powers of deduction and her extensive knowledge of human behavior to piece together the clues and identify the culprit.

As the investigation continues, Jessica finds herself in grave danger as the killer begins to see her as a threat to their plans. However, with the help of Seth, as well as some other unlikely allies, Jessica is able to outsmart the killer and expose them for the ruthless murderer that they are.

In the end, justice is served as the killer is brought to justice and the families of the victims are able to rest easy knowing that their loved ones' deaths have been avenged. Jessica and Seth share a bittersweet moment as they reflect on the events that have transpired and hope that they will never have to face another case like this again.
