The episode begins with Jessica getting an invitation to speak at her niece Victoria’s prep school, the Grantham Academy, and she agrees to attend. But as soon as she arrives, she is caught in the middle of a heated argument between the faculty members of the school over the appointment of a new headmistress.
Soon after, a young student, who is also the daughter of one of the faculty members, is found dead in the school’s swimming pool. The initial investigation leads the police to suspect that the girl’s death was an accident, caused by a faulty pool cover. But Jessica smells foul play and starts conducting her own investigation, much to the annoyance of the local police.
As she delves deeper into the case, she discovers that everyone in the school has something to hide, including the victim’s own mother, who was having a secret affair with a fellow faculty member. As Jessica uncovers more and more secrets, she becomes convinced that the accident was actually murder and sets out to find the killer.
But as she gets closer to the truth, she realizes that the killer is not who she thought it was and the motive is much more sinister than she could have ever imagined.
