When retired English teacher Jessica Fletcher arrives in the small town of Greenbury to give a lecture at the local community center, she soon finds herself embroiled in a mystery. The town is abuzz with talk about the upcoming mayoral election and tensions run high between the two leading candidates, incumbent Mayor Randall Hollis and his challenger, businessman Jonathan Keeler.
