One of the most beloved children's shows of all time, The Muppets, returns to the small screen with their latest offering – Muppet Moments. This charming series takes us back to the golden days of puppetry, with our favorite felt friends presenting a delightful collection of short sketches, fillers, and interviews.
In the 14th episode of the show's first season, titled Fairy Tales, viewers are treated to a whimsical and imaginative journey through some of the most beloved stories of childhood. Kermit the Frog, the show's ever-charismatic host, sets the stage for the viewer with his trademark brand of wit and humor. Joined by some of his perennial co-stars, including Miss Piggy, Fozzy Bear, Gonzo, and Animal, Kermit takes us on a journey through some of the most famous fairy tales ever written.
The episode opens with Kermit introducing the first tale of the episode - Cinderella. The famous glass slipper story is given a Muppet spin with Cinderella played by none other than the show's favorite diva, Miss Piggy. Not to be outdone, Kermit also takes on the role of the fairy godmother, with Fozzy as the bumbling prince. The result is a hilarious take on the classic story, as only The Muppets can deliver!
Next up, we have the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood. With Animal taking on the title role of the red-caped heroine, and Gonzo as the Big Bad Wolf, this tale is imbued with all the loony charm and humor that is synonymous with The Muppets.
The third story, The Three Little Pigs, is given a fun and wacky spin. With Fozzy, Kermit, and Gonzo taking on the roles of the titular swine, and Miss Piggy playing the role of the hungry wolf, the story takes on a whole new level of whimsy. The Muppets' signature brand of slapstick humor is on full display here, as they try their best to handle the wolf menace.
The final story of the episode is Hansel and Gretel, which is presented with an imaginative and colorful twist. Here, the Muppets take us on a musical adventure, as only they can, with a cast of characters that include a gingerbread man, a singing oven, and a group of tap-dancing birds.
In between the stories, the episode also features some fun sketches and fillers to keep the audience entertained. For example, we get to see Fozzy as a bumbling quizmaster asking Gonzo the most absurd questions imaginable. We also get to see the Muppets engage in some good old-fashioned slapstick humor, with Kermit trying to lead a hula hoop workout session.
In addition to the short sketches, Muppet Moments also features some engaging interviews with the show's cast and crew. In this episode, we get to hear from Brian Henson, son of the legendary Jim Henson, who talks about his experiences working on the show and carrying on his father's legacy.
Overall, Fairy Tales is another delightful episode of Muppet Moments, which is sure to enchant audiences both young and old. The Muppets' ability to infuse these classic stories with their unique brand of humor and whimsy is a testament to their enduring appeal. With its wonderful mix of comedy, music, and heart, this show is a true gem in the pantheon of children's programming.
