Gerry Duncan, played by comedian Gerry Dee, is back for the second season of the popular Canadian sitcom Mr. D. In episode one, entitled "Gerry's Evaluation," the show kicks off with a bang as Gerry prepares for his annual performance review.
As a high school teacher, Gerry is tasked with educating a motley crew of students, each with their own unique challenges and personalities. However, it's his unconventional teaching methods that often land him in hot water with the principal, faculty, and even his students' parents.
Despite his unorthodox approach, Gerry is determined to prove that his way of teaching is effective, and he's eager to impress during his evaluation. As he prepares for the big day, he begins to reflect on his past year in the classroom and the various trials and tribulations he's faced.
One of Gerry's biggest challenges has been dealing with his arch-nemesis, Lisa Mason, head of the English department and constant thorn in his side. Played by Lauren Hammersley, Lisa is ruthless in her criticism of Gerry and takes every opportunity to try to bring him down.
Another challenge for Gerry has been dealing with his own personal life, which often spills over into his professional life. From his acrimonious divorce to his ongoing battles with his co-workers, Gerry has a lot on his plate.
Despite these challenges, however, Gerry is determined to succeed, and he begins to formulate a plan to ace his evaluation. He enlists the help of his colleagues, including the school's guidance counselor Bobbi and the hapless Robert, as well as his best friend, Andy.
As Gerry prepares for his evaluation, tensions begin to mount, and it becomes clear that this year's review will be more challenging than ever. With his job on the line, Gerry has to pull out all the stops if he wants to impress his superiors and secure his place at the school.
Overall, Mr. D season 2 episode 1 is a hilarious and heartwarming look at the trials and tribulations of a high school teacher trying to make a difference in the lives of his students. With its witty writing and relatable characters, it's no wonder that this Canadian sitcom has become such a fan favorite.
