Mr. Bean is a British sitcom that first aired in 1990. The show features the eccentric, childlike character of Mr. Bean, played by Rowan Atkinson. In each episode, Mr. Bean finds himself in comical situations as he attempts to go about his daily life.
The first episode of Mr. Bean is entitled "Mr. Bean" and originally aired on January 1, 1990. In this episode, we are introduced to the character of Mr. Bean and learn a bit about his daily routine.
The episode starts with Mr. Bean waking up late for an important appointment. He rushes to get ready, using a toothbrush to comb his hair and putting on his pants as he runs down the street. When he arrives at his destination, a local department store, he realizes that he has forgotten his wallet and is unable to pay for his purchases.
Mr. Bean tries a number of different tactics to persuade the store clerk to let him take his items without paying, including offering to leave his watch as collateral and attempting to barter with other customers in the store. Eventually, he is escorted out of the store by security and forced to leave his purchases behind.
Undeterred, Mr. Bean decides to make his way home by hitchhiking. He tries to flag down a few passing cars before realizing that they are all taxis. Finally, a kindly driver stops to pick him up and takes him home.
Once he arrives home, Mr. Bean settles in for a quiet evening watching television. However, he quickly becomes bored with the programmes on offer and instead decides to make his own entertainment. He begins by playing with a pack of cards, but soon moves on to more elaborate games involving rubber bands and paperclips.
As the evening wears on, Mr. Bean becomes increasingly restless. He tries a number of different activities to pass the time, including dancing, playing with a yo-yo, and attempting to paint a portrait of himself. None of the activities seem to hold his attention for long, however, and he soon becomes bored once again.
Finally, Mr. Bean decides to make himself a sandwich. He wanders into the kitchen and begins searching through the various items in his cupboards and refrigerator. As he goes, he makes a mess of the kitchen, dropping food on the floor and splattering sauce everywhere.
By the time he has finished making his sandwich, the kitchen is a disaster area. Mr. Bean seems unbothered by the mess, however, and instead settles down to enjoy his meal. As he eats, he begins to daydream about all of the things he could do with his life if he didn't have to worry about money or responsibilities.
Overall, the first episode of Mr. Bean sets the tone for the rest of the series. It introduces audiences to the quirky character of Mr. Bean and establishes his penchant for getting into trouble. It also showcases Rowan Atkinson's comedic talents, as he manages to make even the most mundane tasks seem hilarious.
