Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a lot of people have been staying confined in their homes for months. But for Moving On season 11 episode 1 "Time Out," two couples have decided to go on a much-needed vacation far away from the pandemic's chaos. However, not everything goes according to the plan they have made, and they eventually come to realize that getting away does not necessarily mean that they can escape their problems.
The first couple, Jenny and Tom, has a rocky relationship that needs fixing. The series has been teasing their relationship for a while, and season 11 sets out to address it. Despite how people know that they should work things out, their underlying problems keep popping up. Jenny and Tom's fight for the last few episodes has gotten worse, leading them to plan a romantic getaway. They want to spend some time in a nice resort, drinking cocktails and getting massages. However, when they get there, they realize that this is not what they needed. Instead of rekindling their love, they find themselves clashing as past lies get brought up. The episode highlights how difficult it is to fix a troubled relationship. Jenny and Tom have to face their past issues and see if there is any hope for the future.
The second couple, Karen and David, on the other hand, is already married and is looking to have a vacation where they can improve their bond. Their plan is to participate in a couple's therapy retreat. With hopes of getting to know each other better and learning more about how to keep a healthy relationship, they embark on this trip with high spirits. However, things don't go as planned as they realize that the resort they are staying at is so boring that they have nothing to do. The couples' therapy retreat is nowhere near as amazing as they thought it would be, and tension arises between the couple. Karen and David have to work through this problem as well, learning that sometimes the smallest things matter the most in a relationship.
Both couples go through individual struggles that leave them questioning their relationships. They realize that sometimes, an escape from life is not enough to mend the problems that exist within themselves and their relationships with others. They need to confront their issues head-on and work through them if they hope to find happiness with those they love.
Overall, Moving On season 11 episode 1 "Time Out" is an excellent introduction to the new season. The show's ability to take a realistic approach to relationships and show the struggles that people go through day-to-day is admirable. It highlights the importance of communication, self-reflection, and compromise in a relationship. Moreover, it shows that there is never an easy solution to relationship problems, but with the right effort, they can be overcome.
