The show Mountain Monsters follows a team of expert hunters and trappers known as the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings (AIMS) as they travel through the Appalachian Mountains in search of legendary creatures. In season 2 episode 7, titled Wild Bill's Bear Beast, the team investigates reports of a massive, bear-like creature terrorizing residents in Clay County, West Virginia.
The episode begins with the AIMS team meeting with a local resident named Wild Bill, who claims to have seen the creature in question. Wild Bill describes the creature as being over 7 feet tall, with black fur and massive claws. He also reports that the creature has been killing livestock and vandalizing homes in the area.
The AIMS team sets out to investigate, using a variety of methods including trail cameras, live bait, and traps. They search the woods for hours on end, but have no luck in finding any signs of the creature. However, they do come across several sets of large footprints, which they believe to be those of the Bear Beast.
As night falls, the team sets up a hunting blind and begins to monitor the area with night vision cameras. Suddenly, they hear a loud growl in the distance, and quickly move to investigate. They soon find themselves face to face with the massive creature, which charges at them with incredible speed and strength.
The team manages to evade the creature and flee back to their base camp, where they regroup and plan their next move. They decide to use a combination of live bait and a special trapping technique known as a pit trap to capture the creature. The pit trap involves digging a deep hole and covering it with branches, leaves, and other debris to make it blend in with its surroundings.
After several days of preparation, the team sets their plan in motion. They place live bait near the pit, hoping to lure the creature in. As night falls, they watch and wait from a nearby tree, armed with tranquilizer guns and other equipment.
Finally, after several hours of waiting, the creature appears and begins to approach the bait. It steps onto the covered pit, and the team quickly springs into action, firing tranquilizer darts and pulling the creature out of the pit.
The team is shocked to discover that the creature is not a bear at all, but rather a massive, wolf-like creature with incredible strength and agility. They manage to secure the creature and transport it back to their base camp for further examination.
In the end, the team concludes that the creature is a unique and previously undiscovered species, and they name it the Wild Bill's Bear Beast after the man who initially reported its existence. The episode ends with the team thanking Wild Bill for his help, and promising to continue their search for other legendary creatures in the Appalachian Mountains.
