As winter approaches, the Mountain Men are forced to make tough decisions in order to survive. In this episode, titled "Tooth and Claw," the challenges are greater than ever before. Marty Meierotto, who lives in Alaska's remote wilderness, must race against the clock to complete his winter preparations before the snowstorms hit. He sets traps for the elusive wolverines and wolves, but the predators prove to be a challenge and Marty must remain vigilant.
Meanwhile, Tom Oar, a seasoned Mountain Man, ventures deep into the backcountry of Montana to track down a rogue grizzly bear that has been wreaking havoc on nearby ranches. With winter looming, Tom must act fast to protect the local livestock and hunting opportunities.
Eustace Conway, who lives off the grid in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, faces a different kind of challenge. He must train his new dog, Jack, to become a reliable hunting companion. As Eustace works patiently with Jack, he fears that time is running out to teach him the skills he needs to survive.
Finally, Rich Lewis, in the remote wilderness of Montana, faces his toughest test yet as he hunts for elusive lynx. With his trusty hounds by his side, Rich braves treacherous terrain to track down the elusive cat. He faces a race against darkness and the weather, but Rich is determined to bring home a lynx.
