In the 16th episode of the seventh season of Mountain Men, titled "Hell Or High Water," we see the various men and women fighting against Mother Nature's unpredictable ways.
The episode begins with a look at a 70-year-old Montana rancher named Rich and his wife Diane. They have been experiencing a drought in the area, causing all sorts of issues with their livestock. As it turns out, their 3,000-acre ranch has been hit particularly hard, and their cattle are in severe need of water.
Meanwhile, in the Yaak Valley of Montana, Tom Oar is in the midst of preparing for winter. Tom has a decades-long history of living off the land and has been doing so ever since he was a young man. He's known for his hunting and trapping skills that allow him to survive in this environment, even when everything around him seems to be going awry.
Morgan Beasley is a young man who lives even further north, in Alaska. He's been spending his days building a cabin on the Yadon River. Morgan is a survivalist and doesn't believe in wasting anything. In this episode, we see him putting his mantra to the test as he tries to catch enough salmon to provide him with a food source throughout winter.
In Utah, the Hines family is also fighting against Mother Nature. The patriarch of the family, Marty, is a man who has been living off the land ever since he was a child. He and his family have made their living by trapping and hunting, but the changing times have forced them to explore other means of income. They have turned to farming, but they've been hit by heavy rains which have caused the soil to erode, making it difficult to plant crops.
Finally, Eustace Conway is a man who lives in the Appalachian mountains in North Carolina. He's a self-proclaimed nature enthusiast and primitive skills educator. He lives in a teepee and is someone who believes in doing everything by hand. In this episode, we see him struggling to keep his teepee dry during a very wet and rainy season.
Overall, this episode of Mountain Men follows the various people who are fighting to survive against the harsh realities of nature. We see people who are used to living off the land working to overcome challenges like droughts, heavy rains, and lack of food sources, all while trying to maintain their livelihoods. It's a fascinating look at how human beings can adapt and persevere in the face of adversity.
