In this episode of Mountain Men, titled Double Jeopardy, viewers will follow the lives of several individuals who have chosen to live off the grid and rely on the resources that the wilderness provides. The show takes place in the remote areas of Alaska, Montana, and North Carolina, and follows the struggles these individuals face as they try to survive in the harsh conditions of the wilderness.
One of the main storylines on this episode focuses on Tom Oar, a 70-year-old mountain man who has been living in Montana for over 50 years. Tom has made a name for himself over the years as a skilled craftsman who can build just about anything he needs to survive in the wilderness. In this episode, Tom takes on a new challenge as he agrees to help a neighbor who is in desperate need of a new roof on his cabin. Tom has never taken on a project quite like this before, and he's not sure if he'll be able to complete it before the harsh Montana winter sets in.
Meanwhile, in Alaska, Marty Meierotto is hard at work trying to prepare for the upcoming trapping season. Marty is a seasoned trapper who knows that he must be fully prepared if he wants to survive out in the wilderness for months at a time. One of his main concerns is finding a new snow machine that can handle the harsh Alaskan winters. He travels to Fairbanks to buy a used machine, but it turns out to be a lot more trouble than he bargained for.
In North Carolina, Eustace Conway is busy trying to turn a profit on his farm. Eustace is known for his ability to live off the land, but he also runs a business selling hand-crafted goods made from the resources he finds in the surrounding wilderness. Unfortunately for Eustace, he is struggling to keep up with the demand for his products. He decides to take on some help, but he quickly realizes that having employees comes with its own set of challenges.
Finally, we meet Rich Lewis, a hunter who lives in the remote town of Ruby, Alaska. Rich is focused on trying to provide for his family by continuing to hunt and trap for a living. He's also working on building a new cabin for his family to live in. In this episode, we see Rich struggling to find the right location for his new cabin. He's determined to build it in a spot where he can still hunt and trap, but he's having a hard time finding a suitable location.
As the season begins to wind down, all of the mountain men are feeling the pressure to make sure they are prepared for the upcoming winter. They know that the harsh conditions of the wilderness can be unforgiving, and they must be ready to face whatever challenges come their way. With each passing day, they continue to push themselves to their limits, all in an effort to survive and thrive in the beautiful, but dangerous, wilderness they call home.
