In Mountain Men season 7 episode 11, titled "Conquer The Mountain," viewers follow several of the show's seasoned veterans as they confront the daunting challenges of living off the land in unforgiving environments across America.
Marty Meierotto, the Alaska-based trapper and outdoorsman, faces a serious issue with his larder, which is perilously low on supplies. Despite his best efforts, he is struggling to hunt enough game to feed himself through the long Alaskan winter. In "Conquer The Mountain," Marty is forced to rely on his trapping skills and his vast knowledge of the hard, harsh country he calls home to secure enough food. He ventures deep into the wilderness, braving brutal weather conditions and dangerous terrain to track elusive prey. The episode showcases Marty's incredible skills as a trapper and woodsman, as he faces numerous obstacles in his quest to provide for himself and his family.
Meanwhile, in Montana, Tom Oar continues to follow his lifelong passion for the outdoors and the simple life he has built for himself in the mountains. At 75 years old, Tom is still going strong and has no intention of slowing down. In "Conquer The Mountain," viewers get a glimpse of Tom's daily routine, which involves splitting wood, repairing his cabin, and spending time with his beloved wife, Nancy. But even the most rugged and self-sufficient mountain man is not immune to the ravages of time, and Tom must confront a new challenge as he struggles with a knee injury. Despite the pain, however, Tom remains determined to live life on his own terms and conquer the mountain that is his home.
Finally, "Conquer The Mountain" takes viewers deep into the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where Eustace Conway has set up a rustic homestead that is both a monument to frontier life and a working farm. Eustace is a living legend in the world of Mountain Men, a fiercely independent and self-reliant outdoorsman who eschews modern technology and embraces the old ways of farming, hunting, and living off the land. In this episode, Eustace faces a new challenge as he tries to bring in a valuable new crop of ginseng. He must contend with harsh weather, forest predators, and cutthroat competition from other ginseng farmers in the area as he tries to harvest the valuable root. But as always, Eustace remains undaunted, relying on his wits, his experience, and his love for the land to conquer the mountain once more.
As the season draws to a close, "Conquer The Mountain" is a powerful reminder of the incredible resilience and determination of the Mountain Men who have made their homes in some of the most challenging environments in the world. Whether they are trappers, farmers, or homesteaders, these men and women inspire us with their ability to thrive in the wilderness, to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and to live life on their own terms.
