Ep 13. Long Shot

In the season 6 episode 13 of Mountain Men, titled Long Shot, we follow the lives of several men who have devoted their lives to living off the grid in some of the most rugged and remote areas of North America. This episode features several of the regular cast members, including Marty Meierotto, Tom Oar, and Rich Lewis, as well as a few new faces.

One of the main storylines in this episode centers around Marty, who must navigate treacherous ice on his way to check his marten traps. The weather conditions are brutal, and the ice is thin and unstable, making the journey extremely dangerous. Marty is determined to make it to the traps, however, as the marten pelts are incredibly valuable and could bring in a significant source of income for him and his family.

Meanwhile, Tom Oar is dealing with his own set of challenges as he tries to gather enough firewood to last through the harsh winter months. The snow is deep, and the logs are heavy, but Tom is determined to get the job done. As he works, we get a glimpse into his mindset and his philosophy on life in the wilderness. He reflects on the importance of being self-sufficient and the joy that comes from living in harmony with nature.

Rich Lewis is also featured prominently in this episode, as he attempts to diversify his trapping operation by going after bobcats. This is a risky move, as bobcats are notoriously difficult to catch, and there is no guarantee of success. Rich is up for the challenge, however, and he sets out on a grueling trek through the mountains in search of his prey.

As the episode progresses, we see each of the men deal with a range of challenges and obstacles. From unpredictable weather to mechanical failures to unexpected setbacks, they must use all of their skills and knowledge to survive in the wilderness. Throughout it all, they rely on their own grit and determination to push through and keep moving forward.

Ultimately, the episode is a testament to the strength and resilience of these mountain men. They are a breed apart, living lives that few of us could ever imagine, and facing challenges that most of us could never handle. Yet despite the difficulties they face, they carry on, day after day, driven by a deep love and respect for the land they call home.
