As the title suggests, the third episode of Mount Pleasant's second season, "Protest," is all about taking a stand. The episode follows the various relationships and dramas of the residents of Mount Pleasant as they come up against issues of fairness, injustice, and standing up for what they believe in.

One of the main plotlines of the episode centers around Lisa (played by Sally Lindsay) and her partner Dan (played by Daniel Ryan), who find themselves caught up in a political protest against cuts to public services. While Dan is initially hesitant to get involved, Lisa is fired up and determined to make a difference.

As the protest unfolds, tensions rise between the couple, and Dan begins to worry about the potential repercussions of their involvement. Meanwhile, Lisa finds herself bonding with some of the other protesters, and begins to see the value in standing up for what you believe in, even if it means taking risks.

The episode also delves into the relationship between Jack (played by Pauline Collins) and her husband Eddie (played by Bobby Ball). After Eddie is taken ill, Jack becomes increasingly frustrated with his stubbornness and refusal to seek medical treatment. As their arguments escalate, Jack begins to realize that she may need to take a stand in order to get her husband the help he needs.

Elsewhere, the young couple Bradley (played by Nathan Bryon) and Tanya (played by Sally Sheridan) are struggling to make ends meet, and find themselves faced with an unfair rent increase. Despite their financial troubles, Tanya is determined to fight back against their unscrupulous landlord, and enlists the help of her neighbour Fergus (played by Neil Fitzmaurice) in her quest for justice.

As ever, the episode is also packed with plenty of comedy, with scenes involving Lisa's best friend Shelley (played by Angela Griffin) and her relationship woes, and Greg (played by James Dreyfus) and his awkward attempts at online dating.

Overall, "Protest" is a powerful, thought-provoking episode that explores the importance of standing up for what you believe in, even when it's not easy. With plenty of laughs along the way, it's a testament to the strength of the show's writing and cast that it manages to tackle such heavy themes while remaining thoroughly entertaining throughout.
