Ep 2. They Made Me a Criminal

In season 2 episode 2 of Motive entitled "They Made Me a Criminal," Detective Angie Flynn and her partner Detective Oscar Vega are called to investigate the murder of a man found in the trunk of a car that is suspected to have been stolen. Upon further investigation, they discover that the victim, Andre Barrett, was a former professional boxer who had spent time in prison for a crime he didn't commit.

As Flynn dives deeper into the case, she discovers that Barrett was working at a community center where he was mentoring troubled youth and trying to make amends for his past mistakes. She also learns that he had recently received a large monetary settlement for his wrongful conviction. The second suspect is a wealthy businessman named Douglas, who had been in a business partnership with Barrett's former boxing manager. In addition to financial ties, Flynn discovers that Douglas had a personal connection to Barrett, as they had both been incarcerated at the same time in the same prison. The detectives begin to wonder if Douglas' connections in the penal system could have provided him with an opportunity to harm Barrett.

As the investigation continues, Flynn and Vega uncover new evidence that leads them to believe that both Ray and Douglas could have been responsible for Barrett's murder. However, they also begin to suspect that there may be a third person involved, pulling the strings behind the scenes.

As the detectives work to solve the case, they are also dealing with personal issues in their own lives. Vega is struggling with his wife's recent miscarriage, while Flynn is trying to navigate a new romance with a man she met on a dating app. These personal storylines add an extra layer of depth to the episode and help to flesh out the characters beyond their roles as detectives.

In the end, Flynn and Vega are able to solve the case and bring justice to Andre Barrett's family. The resolution of the case is satisfying and leaves the audience wanting more of the well-crafted plotlines and complex characters that define Motive.
