Detective Angie Flynn and her team investigate the murder of a wealthy businessman named James Denton. Denton's body is discovered in his car on a remote road, and it looks like he was killed as part of a carjacking gone wrong. However, Angie is suspicious when she learns that Denton was carrying a large amount of cash on him, and it seems unlikely that he would have put up a fight over his car. As Angie and her team dig deeper, they uncover a tangled web of secrets and lies surrounding Denton's life, including a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife and a business deal gone bad. Meanwhile, Angie struggles with her own personal demons as she deals with the aftermath of her colleague's recent death. With time running out, Angie and her team race to catch the killer before they strike again.
As the investigation progresses, Angie and her team begin to suspect that the killer may have been someone Denton knew personally. They discover that Denton had been conducting secret meetings with an old friend named Paul, who had fallen on hard times and was in desperate need of money. However, Paul denies having anything to do with Denton's murder and claims he was only meeting with Denton to try and borrow money from him. Angie is skeptical, but with no hard evidence to link Paul to the crime, she is forced to consider other suspects.
Meanwhile, Angie's colleague Detective Lucas is struggling with his own personal demons. Consumed by guilt over his role in a previous case, Lucas turns to alcohol to numb his pain. As he spirals out of control, Angie tries to reach out to him and offer her support, but he pushes her away. Eventually, Lucas hits rock bottom and is forced to confront his addiction before he can get back to work.
As the investigation into Denton's murder intensifies, another body turns up, further complicating matters. With the pressure mounting, Angie and her team race to solve the case before anyone else gets hurt. As they close in on the killer, they discover that the motive behind the murder is far more complicated than they ever could have imagined.
In the end, Angie and her team are able to catch the killer and bring them to justice. Along the way, Angie learns some valuable lessons about the importance of dealing with personal demons and seeking help when needed. The episode ends on a poignant note as Angie visits her colleague's grave and promises to never forget him.
