Ep 14. Craigievar Castle
- June 28, 2005
Craigievar Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, is the main focus of this episode of Most Haunted. The castle itself is considered one of the most well-preserved examples of Scottish Baronial architecture in the country, having been built in the early 17th century.
As with most ancient buildings, Craigievar Castle has its own share of ghost stories and legends. There are tales of a young girl who haunts the castle, having died young and now appearing in various rooms and around the property. An elderly man has also been seen walking around the castle's library, and the sound of footsteps and other unexplained noises have been heard by many visitors over the years.
The current caretaker of Craigievar Castle, who has lived there for over 20 years, is quick to point out that he has never experienced anything paranormal during his tenure. This does not deter the Most Haunted team, however, who set up shop and begin their investigation of the castle's haunted history.
The episode begins with the team exploring the castle's grand entrance hall, a room with a magnificent wood-carved staircase and other antique furnishings. As they begin their investigation, they soon detect some inexplicable activity - strange noises and the sound of footsteps around the room. They use their equipment to try and capture any kind of activity on film, with some interesting results.
Next, the team heads to the castle's Great Hall, which is one of the most impressive rooms in the building. It is here where the story of the little girl ghost is said to originate from, so the team focus their investigation on trying to make contact with her. They use various props and techniques in an attempt to prompt any kind of reaction or activity, but nothing seems to materialize.
After a brief break, the team gets back to their investigation, this time in the castle's impressive library. This is the room where the elderly man ghost is said to frequent, so the team focus their attention on this area. They use thermal imaging and other equipment to try and detect any kind of paranormal activity, but once again - much to their disappointment - nothing happens.
The episode continues with the Most Haunted team visiting other areas of the castle and exploring its many rooms. They try to provoke any kind of reaction or response from any potential ghosts that may still inhabit the castle, but unfortunately this is not meant to be. As the investigation comes to a close, the team gathers all their findings and try to make sense of what they've experienced.
Although the team didn't uncover any tangible proof of paranormal activity, the episode remains a fascinating glimpse into the world of haunted castles and ghastly legends. It's clear that Craigievar Castle is a place with a rich history and a host of spooky stories, which only adds to the charm and mystique of this impressive building. For fans of Most Haunted and lovers of all things spooky, this episode is a must-watch.
