Moonlight is an American television series that aired on CBS in 2007. It is a supernatural drama series that follows the life of private investigator Mick St. John, who also happens to be a vampire. In the pilot episode titled "No Such Thing As Vampires", we are introduced to Mick as he goes about his business on the streets of Los Angeles.
The episode starts with Mick working on a case for a client who is concerned about her husband's infidelity. As he discovers incriminating evidence, he also notices a mysterious woman in red who seems to be following him. The woman appears to have a connection to Mick's past, but Mick is hesitant to approach her.
As Mick continues to investigate his case, he follows a lead to an alley where he is attacked by a group of men. He fights them off, but not before he is injured. Mick's injury quickly heals, and we see glimpses of his supernatural abilities as he uses his heightened senses to navigate the world around him.
Meanwhile, we are introduced to Beth Turner, a young investigative reporter who is working on a story about a series of murders that have been occurring in Los Angeles. Beth attends a charity event where she meets Mick and they strike up a conversation. Mick is immediately drawn to Beth, but he is hesitant to get too close to her due to his vampire nature.
As Beth continues to investigate the murders, she discovers that they may be linked to a group of people who believe in vampires. Beth's investigation leads her to a group of vampire enthusiasts who offer to introduce her to a real-life vampire. Beth is initially skeptical but decides to attend the meeting.
When Beth arrives at the meeting, she is shocked to discover that the real-life vampire in question is none other than Mick. Mick explains to Beth that he is a vampire, but that he does not drink human blood and chooses to live amongst humans instead. Beth is initially skeptical but decides to trust Mick and his intentions.
As the episode progresses, Mick and Beth work together to investigate the murders and uncover a conspiracy involving a group of vampires who are running a blood bank for other vampires. Mick and Beth ultimately manage to bring the culprits to justice, and the episode ends with Mick and Beth sharing a moment together.
Overall, the pilot episode of Moonlight is an intriguing introduction to the series. It does a great job of setting up the world and the characters, as well as introducing the central conflict of a vampire who chooses to live amongst humans. The episode is full of action and suspense, but it also has heart, with a budding romance between Mick and Beth that leaves the audience wanting more.
