As Christy navigates her way through law school, she's also navigating through the ups and downs of sober life. In Season 8, Episode 9 titled "Whip-Its and Emotionally Attuned Babies," Christy faces a new challenge as her professor assigns the class a tricky ethical debate that sends her questioning her own beliefs and recovery.
Meanwhile, Bonnie and Adam struggle with a different kind of challenge: parenthood. But when Bonnie starts to worry that their baby is too emotional, she becomes obsessed with finding ways to fix her child's supposed mood swings.
While Christy and Bonnie's storylines may seem completely separate, the episode circles back to the common themes of growth, acceptance, and learning to let go of control. As always, the dynamic between the entire cast shines in this episode. Overall, "Whip-Its and Emotionally Attuned Babies" is a strong addition to an already impressive season of Mom. It tackles tough topics with humor and heart, and reminds us that sometimes, even the biggest challenges can lead to the most growth.
