In the Mom season 7 episode 4, titled "Twirly Flippy Men and a Dirty Bird," the ladies of the group delve into their personal struggles with love and relationships. Bonnie is excited at the prospect of getting serious with Adam, but is faced with competing priorities when she has to help her estranged friend Tammy with her legal case. Meanwhile, Christy struggles with her attraction to Gabriel, her language tutor, and debates whether or not to act on her feelings.
At the start of the episode, Bonnie is busy preparing a romantic dinner for Adam. She's hoping to take their relationship to the next level, but is nervous about whether or not he feels the same way. Just as she's about to light the candles, she gets a frantic call from her old friend Tammy, who's facing some serious legal problems. Despite their rocky history, Bonnie agrees to help Tammy out and heads to the courthouse with her daughter, Christy.
Meanwhile, Christy is grappling with some romantic issues of her own. She's been taking language lessons from a handsome tutor named Gabriel, and is starting to feel an attraction to him. She confides in Jill, who suggests that she might have a chance with Gabriel if she plays her cards right.
As the episode progresses, Bonnie and Tammy's legal case takes a surprising turn, and Bonnie ends up having to come clean about some of her own past mistakes. Despite the hiccup, she manages to come through for Tammy in the end, and the two women make amends.
Meanwhile, Christy decides to take Jill's advice and make a move on Gabriel. She invites him out for drinks after their next lesson, and is thrilled when he seems to reciprocate her feelings. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when an unexpected guest shows up at the bar where they're meeting.
Throughout the episode, there are plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments as the women navigate their complicated love lives and support each other through trying times. With its sharp writing and talented cast, "Twirly Flippy Men and a Dirty Bird" is a standout installment in the seventh season of Mom.
