Molly of Denali is an animated series that follows the adventures of Molly Mabray, a ten-year-old Alaska Native girl who lives in the fictional village of Qyah. In season 2, episode 2 titled Cabbagezilla/Name Game, Molly and her friends continue to explore their community and learn about the traditions and culture of their people.
In the first part of the episode, Cabbagezilla, Molly and her friends are excited to enter a giant cabbage contest at the annual harvest festival. In order to help them memorize the names, Molly comes up with a fun game that involves learning the meaning of each name and associating it with a fun image or action. With the help of their classmates and their new game, Molly and her friends are able to learn all the names in no time.
Throughout the episode, Molly and her friends also take the time to learn about the history and traditions of their community. They learn about the Aleutian Islanders, who were forced to relocate during World War II, and the Makah tribe, who have a long history of whaling on the Pacific coast. Through their learning, the kids come to appreciate the diversity of their community and the importance of respecting and celebrating their differences.
