Molly of Denali is an animated series that follows the adventures of Molly, a 10-year-old Alaskan Native girl. In season 1 episode 4, titled "Bird in the Hand/Bye-Bye Birdie", Molly and her friends have a bird-watching adventure.
The episode starts with Molly and her friends, Tooey and Trini, going on a bird-watching mission to spot a rare bird, the Puffin. The three friends head to a nearby island to search for the bird, but their attempts are unsuccessful. As they head back to their boat, they hear a bird calling out. They track the sound and find a baby bird, which they take back with them to Molly's house.
Molly and her parents are worried about the baby bird's health, so they decide to take care of it. They name the bird "Quvi" and quickly become attached to it. They research about the bird and learn that it is a Yellow Warbler, which is migratory. They soon realize that they need to help the baby bird get back to its parents and start planning their next move.
As they try to find Quvi's parents, they come across a challenge. The baby bird is hungry and needs to be fed every few hours, making it difficult for Molly and her friends to search for its parents. With no luck in finding the parents, Molly and her parents decide to bring the bird to the Bird Rehabilitation Center in Anchorage.
Molly and her friends are heartbroken to leave Quvi at the rehabilitation center, but they know that it is the best thing for the bird. As they leave the center, they are surprised to see a flock of Yellow Warblers flying overhead, which they believe to be Quvi's parents. They watch as the birds fly away, and Molly realizes the importance of helping animals in need.
In the second half of the episode, titled "Bye-Bye Birdie", Molly and Tooey's class is going on a field trip to the town of Koyukuk to attend the annual Spring Carnival. Molly and Tooey are especially excited to see a special performance by the talented group of birds called the "Flyin' Ravens". However, on the day of the carnival, one of the birds gets injured and cannot perform. The Flyin' Ravens are devastated and are on the verge of canceling their performance.
Molly and Tooey decide to help the group and come up with a plan to create a fake bird to replace the injured one. They build a giant bird by using colorful fabric and props, and the Flyin' Ravens agree to use it in their performance. The crowd at the carnival is thrilled by the performance and gives a standing ovation to the Flyin' Ravens. After the show, the group thanks Molly and Tooey for their help and gives them a special souvenir from the carnival.
Overall, Molly of Denali season 1 episode 4 is a heartwarming episode that teaches the importance of caring for animals in need.
