In Modern Family season 5 episode 4, entitled "Farm Strong," the Pritchett and Dunphy families head out of the city and onto the farm for some good old-fashioned country fun. Cam and Mitchell take their daughter Lily on a trip to visit Cam's family and attend his reunion. Meanwhile, the rest of the family joins Jay and Gloria at their Aunt's farm for a day of festive activities and bonding.
At Cam's reunion, tensions run high as Cam's father struggles to come to terms with his son's sexuality. Mitchell tries to intervene, but Cam is determined to let his father come around on his own. The tension between father and son eventually simmers down as they have a heart-to-heart and come to an understanding.
Back at the farm, Phil and Claire reignite their competitive spirit as they participate in a corn maze competition, with Phil determined to come out on top. However, when they get lost in the maze and end up missing lunch, Claire must use her survival skills to get them out of a tricky situation.
Jay bonds with his Aunt's old-fashioned ways, but Gloria struggles to keep up with the country lifestyle. When Jay convinces her to join in on the traditional activities, she ends up getting more than she bargained for, roping a calf and almost getting dragged away by a runaway horse.
Elsewhere, Manny and Luke team up to create a homemade lemonade stand, hoping to make some cash. However, their business venture takes an unexpected turn when a man offers to buy the stand for a suspiciously high price. The boys decide to take the opportunity and use the money to buy a new gaming console.
Throughout the episode, the families learn to appreciate each other and enjoy the simpler things in life. As they come together around the dinner table to share their experiences of the day, they realize that the farm has brought them closer, reminding them of the importance of family and the joy of spending time together.
