Ep 4. The Butler's Escape

Jay and Gloria are having one of their traditional Sunday dinners with the entire family and are introduced to their new butler, Geoffrey. Gloria is thrilled about having a butler until the rest of the family starts to point out some of Geoffrey's eccentricities. Meanwhile, Phil's father, Frank, is in town and he invites Phil and the family to go to a Los Angeles Clippers basketball game, but refuses to tell them why. The family is surprised to find out that Frank had stolen a pair of front row tickets from an enemy of his named Earl Chambers. As they try to enjoy the game, Earl shows up and confronts Frank, leading to a confrontation that the entire stadium can witness.

Cam is trying to teach Lily a valuable lesson about respecting boundaries by setting up a "fortress of solitude" in their living room, but Lily rebels against the idea and tries to break down the fortress. This leads to a comical showdown between the two of them, with each side determined to come out victorious.

Meanwhile, Mitchell and Claire are both dealing with problems at their respective jobs. Mitchell is struggling with the fact that his boss keeps trying to set him up with a co-worker, even though Mitchell is openly gay. Claire is dealing with a difficult client who refuses to listen to her advice. As the two of them vent about their problems, they come up with a plan to help each other out.

Overall, The Butler's Escape is a hilarious and heartwarming episode that showcases the strengths of the entire Modern Family cast. From Jay and Gloria dealing with their new butler to Phil trying to keep his father out of trouble, there's never a dull moment in this episode. Cam and Lily's showdown is particularly fun to watch, as is the confrontation between Frank and Earl at the basketball game. And while Mitchell and Claire's storylines may be a bit more serious, they still manage to be relatable and amusing. As always, Modern Family manages to find a way to balance humor with heart, making The Butler's Escape a must-watch episode.
