Jay's family goes to Hawaii to celebrate his birthday, but the trip doesn't go as planned. Mitchell and Cameron try to be relaxing parents, but end up being too strict with their daughter, Lily. Meanwhile, Phil tries to impress Claire by taking flying lessons, but she becomes uncomfortable with his lack of skill. Gloria tries to help Manny overcome his fear of flying by pushing him to face his fears. The family struggles to find a balance between adventure and relaxation on their Hawaiian vacation.
