In the fifth episode of the first season of Mobile Suit Gundam titled "Re-Entry To Earth," the White Base crew finds themselves in a perilous situation as they attempt to enter Earth's atmosphere. The episode starts with Amuro Ray, the protagonist of the series, being reprimanded by his crewmates for not being able to control the Gundam well enough. Frustrated, Amuro retreats to his room, where he is met by Lt. Matilda Ajan, who offers him a new weapon to use in his Gundam.
Meanwhile, the White Base crew receives a message from the Earth Federation Forces warning them that they are entering a dangerous atmosphere that can cause their ship to explode due to their altitude and speed. Captain Bright Noa tries his best to keep morale high on board by reassuring his crew that they will be able to make it through the treacherous deserts below.
However, things take a turn for the worse when the ship is suddenly attacked by Zeon forces and forced to enter the atmosphere prematurely. The crew is thrown into chaos as they try to regain control of the ship, leading to some intense action sequences that showcase the complexity of piloting the giant Mobile Suits.
As the White Base plummets towards the Earth, the atmosphere causes a malfunction in their heat shields, putting the crew in even greater danger. Amuro, with the help of the new weapon provided to him by Lt. Matilda, manages to destroy one of the Zeon forces attacking them, but it's not enough to save the ship from crashing.
Just as things seem hopeless, the crew is saved by the timely arrival of the Earth Federation Forces, who provide cover fire and escort them to a safe landing. In the aftermath, the crew reflects on their ordeal and the sacrifices of those who lost their lives in the battle.
Overall, "Re-Entry To Earth" is an exciting episode that showcases the dangers and complexities of space warfare while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and leadership in times of crisis. It also sets up future plot points and character arcs for the rest of the season, making it a critical episode for fans of the series.
