  • October 26, 2008

The Reason for Fighting is the fourth episode of the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Set in the year 2312, the series follows the story of a group of skilled pilots known as Celestial Being who are fighting for the cause of world peace by using their advanced mobile suits.

At the beginning of the episode, the leaders of Celestial Being hold a meeting to discuss their next plan of action in their quest for world peace. The group is divided on how to proceed, with some members suggesting that they should take a more aggressive stance and use their mobile suits to force world leaders to comply with their demands. However, the group ultimately decides to continue with their current plan of eliminating war altogether by targeting terrorists and other criminal elements.

Meanwhile, the series introduces a new character, Louise Halevy, who is the daughter of a high-ranking Earth Federation official. Louise is shown to be struggling with the recent death of her parents, who were killed in a battle between the Earth Federation and the rebels. She is convinced that Celestial Being is responsible for her parents' deaths and vows to seek revenge.

As Celestial Being continues their mission, they receive a request for assistance from a group of soldiers from the superpower Union. The Union soldiers are fighting against the HRL, an opposing superpower, and are in dire need of help. Celestial Being decides to intervene and sends their mobile suits to the battlefield. A fierce battle ensues, with both sides unleashing their powerful mobile suits in an attempt to gain the upper hand.

During the battle, a Union soldier who goes by the name of Soma Peries encounters one of Celestial Being's pilots, Allelujah Haptism. As the two engage in battle, Soma notices that Allelujah is suffering from a severe mental breakdown and manages to capture him. Soma is taken aback when she discovers that Allelujah is actually a genetically engineered super soldier who was experimented on as a child. She sympathizes with him and tries to help him escape, but her commanding officer orders her to hand Allelujah over to the HRL as a prisoner of war.

In another part of the battlefield, Setsuna F. Seiei, another of Celestial Being's pilots, is confronted by a Union soldier named Graham Aker, who has sworn to defeat the Gundams and prove that human skill is superior to advanced technology. The two engage in a fierce duel, with Setsuna struggling to keep up with Aker's advanced mobile suit. However, he is eventually able to gain the upper hand and defeat Aker.

As the battle draws to a close, Celestial Being's pilots are left to contemplate the reasons why they fight. Each one has their own motives and personal demons that they must overcome in order to continue with their mission. The episode ends on a poignant note, with each character left to ponder the true meaning of their fight for world peace.

Overall, The Reason for Fighting is a compelling episode that offers a glimpse into the complex world of Celestial Being and their fight for world peace. Through its engaging storyline and well-developed characters, the episode explores the themes of war, revenge, and the meaning of true heroism. It is a must-watch for fans of the Gundam franchise and anyone who enjoys high-stakes action and drama.
