However, as they delve deeper into the investigation, they discover that the haunting was staged by Gary, who was using the situation to create publicity for Donovan's upcoming concert. Gary believed that the ghost story would generate hype and attract fans to the concert, but his plan backfires.

Mike and the team confront Gary and force him to reveal the truth to Donovan. Donovan is disappointed but realizes that he was never in danger and that the haunting was fake. He decides to cancel the concert but then changes his mind and puts on the concert anyway, sans ghost story. The team is successful in solving another mystery, and everyone ends up happy.
