Ep 2. The First Face-Off (2)
- September 8, 1996
After losing the first game, the newly-formed Mighty Ducks team takes on their rivals the Cardinals in their second game. However, the team is faced with a new dilemma: they don't have a goalie.
With no one else willing to step up, coach Gordon Bombay convinces 12-year-old Evan, whose father is the team owner, to don the goalie gear. Though he initially struggles, Evan quickly gains confidence when he saves a shot during practice.
Meanwhile, Coach T, the Cardinals' coach, is determined to win at all costs. He instructs his players to target Evan in the game, hoping to scare him off the ice.
The Ducks' other players also face their own challenges during the game. Nick, who is still struggling with his asthma, sits out for most of the game and grapples with feeling useless on the bench. Sofi, the new girl on the team, is nervous about playing in front of her parents, who have never seen her play hockey before. And Logan, a talented player with a cocky attitude, learns a lesson about teamwork after disrespecting one of his teammates.
Despite the odds against them, the Ducks manage to hold their own against the Cardinals. Evan makes some impressive saves and the Ducks score their first goal of the season. However, the Cardinals ultimately emerge victorious, winning the game 3-1.
While disappointed in the loss, the Ducks remain determined to improve and prove themselves on the ice. Gordon encourages them to focus on their strengths and continue to work hard, knowing that with dedication and teamwork, they can achieve success.
