When an expensive plant collection belonging to a member of the aristocracy is vandalized, it seems like an unfortunate accident. However, when one of the household staff is found murdered shortly afterwards, Barnaby and Troy find themselves delving into a world of long-kept secrets and bitter rivalries. Amidst the familial tensions, gardens full of poisonous plants, and strained social dynamics, the detectives seek to unravel the truth behind the murder of a seemingly well-liked and respected man. Complicating matters are the strange and manic behavior of the victim's widow, the eccentricities of the other members of the aristocracy, and the reluctance of the staff to talk. As the investigation progresses, the detectives begin to suspect that there may be something more sinister underlying the murder and the destruction of the gardens, and they struggle to uncover the truth before it's too late. With twists and turns aplenty, "Garden of Death" is a gripping and suspenseful episode of the long-running mystery series Midsomer Murders.
