In Midsomer Murders season 19 episode 4 titled "Red in Tooth & Claw," the peaceful village of Lower Pampling is thrown into chaos when a group of animal rights activists descends upon it. The activists are seeking to stop the local cricket club from hosting a match that involves killing a large number of rats, which they believe is cruel and barbaric.
But when the leader of the animal rights group, Brigitte Aubrey, is found dead in the woods with a pitchfork in her back, it quickly becomes apparent that someone in the village is not willing to let the activists derail their plans without a fight.
DCI John Barnaby and DS Charlie Nelson arrive on the scene to investigate the murder, which quickly leads them to suspect that the killer may have been someone connected to the cricket club. As they delve deeper into the case, they discover that there are many secrets lurking beneath the surface of the seemingly idyllic village.
Among the suspects are the cricket club captain, who is desperate to win the match and secure funding for the struggling club, as well as various members of the local aristocracy who have their own reasons for wanting to silence the animal rights activists.
As the body count starts to rise, Barnaby and Nelson must untangle a web of deceit and betrayal in order to catch the killer before they strike again. Along the way, they are aided by a cast of eccentric and memorable characters, including a pair of rival birdwatchers, a spurned lover with a grudge, and a wealthy businessman with a shady past.
With plenty of twists and turns, "Red in Tooth & Claw" is a classic Midsomer Murders episode that will keep viewers guessing until the very end. Full of suspense, intrigue, and dark humor, it is a must-see for fans of the long-running British mystery series.
