In Midsomer Murders season 10 episode 8, entitled "Death in a Chocolate Box," the picturesque village of Ferne Basset is preparing for a celebration of Thomas Hardy's birthday. However, the celebrations are cut short when local chocolatier Muriel Harrap is found dead in her own shop, surrounded by boxes of her famous chocolates. Detective Sergeant Ben Jones (Jason Hughes) and Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby (John Nettles) are called in to investigate the murder and the subsequent disappearance of Miss Harrap's assistant.

With red herrings and unexpected twists at every turn, the detectives race against the clock to solve the case before Ferne Basset's secrets are exposed for all to see.
