- December 1, 2014
In "Midnight Diner" season 3 episode 7 entitled "Freshwater Clam Soup," the story follows the midnight diner and its owner, Master, as he prepares a special dish for a customer who has been coming to the diner every week for years. The customer, named Yoshioka, is a retired teacher who has been visiting the diner regularly for the past 20 years and always orders the same thing - freshwater clam soup.
Master decides to make a special clam soup for Yoshioka using the freshest clams and his own special recipe. As he prepares the dish, the other patrons in the diner share their own stories about clams and seafood. One woman tells a story about how her father used to take her clam digging when she was a child, while another customer shares his experience of catching clams in a river in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, outside the diner, a young woman named Akari is busy catching clams in the river for her sick grandmother's soup. She accidentally drops her phone in the water and is unable to call for help. Luckily, she stumbles upon the diner and asks for assistance.
Master is happy to help Akari and asks his regular customers to lend a hand. Together, they help Akari collect the clams she needs and Master gives her a jar of his special clam seasoning to use in her grandmother's soup.
As the night goes on, the diner fills up with more customers, including a young couple who are struggling in their relationship and a group of fishermen who stop by for a late-night snack. Each person has their own story to tell and shares their experiences and feelings with Master and the other patrons.
In the end, all of the different stories come together in a heartwarming and uplifting way as the diner brings these people together over a shared love of food and community. "Midnight Diner" season 3 episode 7 "Freshwater Clam Soup" is a touching and emotional episode that explores the power of food to bring people together and create lasting memories.
