Ep 3. Idiom and Inception
- July 23, 2012
Alan Partridge returns to the airwaves once again with the third episode of Mid Morning Matters. This time around, he explores the wonderful world of idioms and their meanings. He also delves into the hit movie Inception and its perplexing plot twists.
As always, Alan is accompanied by his trusty sidekick Sidekick Simon, who does his best to keep up with Alan's constant tangents. The two discuss their favorite idioms and try to come up with new ones of their own. Alan even creates a few idioms on the spot, but whether they'll catch on remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Alan's producer Deeley is struggling to keep the show on track. Alan's wild imagination and impulsive nature often lead him down unexpected paths, making it difficult for Deeley to follow his train of thought. Despite this, Deeley remains professional and keeps the show running smoothly.
Throughout the episode, Alan and Sidekick Simon explore the origins of idioms, such as "raining cats and dogs" and "chewing the fat." They discuss how these sayings originated and try to come up with more modern interpretations.
However, the main focus of the episode is on the movie Inception. Alan admits that he was initially confused by the complex plot, but he eventually came to understand it and now considers it one of his favorite movies. He breaks down some of the film's key moments and discusses the thematic elements at play.
As usual, Alan's opinions are strong and often controversial. He argues that Inception is a superior movie to other blockbusters of its time, such as Avatar and The Dark Knight. He also believes that the film's ending is intentionally ambiguous, leaving much open to interpretation.
The episode ends with Alan and Sidekick Simon discussing their own dream sequences (or lack thereof). Alan reveals a particularly vivid dream he had involving a giant crab attacking a beach party, while Sidekick Simon insists that he never remembers his dreams.
Overall, the third episode of Mid Morning Matters with Alan Partridge is another hilarious and insightful installment of the beloved series. Alan's wit and humor remain as sharp as ever, and his discussions of idioms and Inception are both fascinating and entertaining. Fans of the show will not be disappointed.
