The episode starts with Mickey seeing ducks landing in a nearby pond. Intrigued, he waddles his way over to get a closer look. As Mickey watches them, he notices that they are diving underwater and coming up with food in their beaks. He tries to mimic them, but ends up almost drowning.
Mickey realizes that he needs to learn more about ducks to be able to successfully dive and catch food like they do. So, he decides to visit his friend, Farmer Jen, who knows a lot about ducks. She tells him all about the different types of ducks that live on the farm, including mallards, wood ducks, and muscovy ducks. Feeling confident from his newfound knowledge, Mickey goes back to the pond to put what he's learned to the test. This time, he's able to dive and catch some food just like the ducks! However, his success doesn't go unnoticed. A nearby duckling starts to follow him around and quack non-stop, thinking Mickey is its mother.
Mickey tries to get the duckling to follow the other ducks, but it won't listen. After a while, Mickey realizes that the duckling might be lost and in need of help. He decides to take the duckling back to Farmer Jen to find its family. After a quick search, they are able to find the duckling's mother, who is relieved and grateful to have her baby back.
As the episode comes to an end, Mickey reflects on all the things he's learned about ducks and how much fun it was to explore their world. He also realizes the importance of helping others in need and how good it feels to lend a hand.
