The Special (Part 2) is the second episode of the fourth season of MI-5, a British television drama series that follows the lives and work of officers within the Security Service, popularly known as MI5.
In this episode, the MI-5 team continues to investigate the activities of a terrorist organization called the Redbacks. They have intelligence that the Redbacks are planning to launch a major attack in London, and the team is working around the clock to prevent it.
Meanwhile, the team is also reeling from the loss of one of their own - team member and intelligence officer, Tom Quinn (played by Matthew Macfadyen). In the previous episode, Tom had gone undercover to infiltrate the Redbacks, but was caught and presumed dead. The team is still struggling to come to terms with his death, with some of them feeling responsible for his fate.
As the investigation into the Redbacks progresses, the team discovers that the terrorist organization is planning to target a building owned by an influential businessman named Mark Wiltshire (played by Tom Hollander). They believe that the Redbacks are planning to use the building as a launchpad for their attack on London. The team suspects that Wiltshire may have unwittingly provided support to the Redbacks, and they attempt to uncover his involvement in the plot.
As part of their investigation, MI-5 recruits a new member to the team - a young man named Adam Carter (played by Rupert Penry-Jones). Adam is a former MI-6 officer who has experience working undercover, and the team hopes that he can help them gather intel on the Redbacks. Adam is introduced to the team in this episode, and viewers get a sense of his character and skills.
The team also receives a tip-off from a mole within the Redbacks, claiming that there is a Special Branch operation getting ready to swoop in on them. This information causes the team to change their tactics, as they try to stay ahead of the Redbacks and prevent the attack on London.
Throughout the episode, there are also several flashbacks to Tom Quinn's time undercover with the Redbacks. These flashbacks give viewers a sense of what Tom went through, and the sacrifices he made for his job. They also tease information about the Redbacks and their plan, and help to build tension as the team races against time to prevent the attack.
Overall, The Special (Part 2) is a tense and emotional episode that continues the storylines from the first episode of the season. It introduces a new character to the team and sets up the stakes for the season as a whole. Viewers will be on the edge of their seats as they watch MI-5 race to stop the Redbacks and keep London safe.
