As the nineteenth episode of the second season of Melrose Place "The Young Men and the Sea" begins, Jane's boss, Sydney, is found beaten and left for dead on the beach. The residents of Melrose Place are left in shock, and suspicion starts to fall on various characters as the investigation tries to figure out who is responsible for the attack.
Meanwhile, Matt is struggling to come to terms with his sexuality and is dealing with the aftermath of his father's discovery of his homosexuality. He finds himself drawn to Rob, a young man who has recently moved into Melrose Place, who seems to be struggling with his own secrets.
Allison, still reeling from her breakup with Billy, begins to get close to Jake. The two spend an evening together on a boat, but their night takes a dangerous turn when they are caught in a storm.
