Set in a trendy apartment complex in Los Angeles, Melrose Place tells the stories of a colorful group of young adults who live, love, and clash with one another amidst scandals, secrets, and drama. In season 5 episode 11, titled Sole Sister, viewers get a glimpse into the world of advertising and fashion as the characters deal with their personal and professional struggles.
The episode centers around Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear), the savvy advertising executive who runs her own agency, and Alison Parker (Courtney Thorne-Smith), Amanda's former protégée who is now trying to make her mark in the industry. Alison has just landed a coveted spot in an advertising workshop run by a prestigious company, and she is eager to learn from the best and impress her new colleagues. However, things don't go smoothly for Alison when she meets her partner for the workshop, a brash and arrogant young man who seems more interested in flirting with her than working with her.
Meanwhile, Amanda is dealing with her own set of problems, both at work and in her personal life. She is struggling to come up with a winning ad campaign for a new perfume, and she is also dealing with the aftermath of her recent breakup with Kyle (Rob Estes), a hunky carpenter who has captured her heart. Amanda is determined to move on from Kyle, but she can't seem to shake her feelings for him, especially when she sees him with his new girlfriend, the beautiful and mysterious Taylor (Lisa Rinna).
As the episode unfolds, viewers are treated to a glimpse of the glamorous world of advertising and fashion, with its glitz and glamour, but also its cutthroat competition and backstabbing. Alison and her partner struggle to come up with a winning idea for their campaign, while Amanda goes head-to-head with her rival, a ruthless ad executive who will do anything to win the account.
In the midst of all this, the characters also face personal challenges and conflicts. Alison must navigate her complicated relationship with Billy (Andrew Shue), her ex-boyfriend who is still harboring feelings for her. Billy tries to win her back, but Alison is wary of getting involved with him again, especially when she meets a charming and successful businessman who seems to have everything she wants.
Meanwhile, Amanda struggles to find happiness in her personal life. She can't seem to move on from Kyle, even though she knows it's not good for her. She also faces a new challenge when she discovers that Taylor has a connection to her past, and that she may be hiding a dark secret.
