Ep 2. Fun in the Sun

As the day wears on, something sinister happens. The group witnesses a strange phenomenon. A strange grey ooze starts spreading across the sand and threatens to engulf the group. The sand has already turned into a gel-like substance, sticky and difficult to move in. The teenagers are frightened and try to run, but the sand sticks to their feet. The only person not affected is Max, and he immediately knows that something serious is happening.

Max takes charge and tries to get everyone out of the area. Using his Turbo bike, he tries to outrun the advancing grey substance, but it is too quick and engulfs the bike wheels, causing it to stop. Max thinks fast and decides to ask his new teenage friends to help him. He knows that technology is the key to unravelling this mystery.

Together with his new friends' help, Max uses a satellite link-up to trace the source of the strange occurrence. They discover that an underground laboratory had been doing experiments on seawater, causing the strange mutation. However, the scientists had not considered the consequences of their actions, and the grey ooze had started spreading across the beach, consuming everything in its path.

Watching the greenish-grey substance moving at a quickening pace, the teens know that they have to do something. They agree that they need to stop the grey ooze or face their whole town being engulfed and turned into one big lump of gloop. The teens conspire to sabotage the experiment by overloading the substation that provides power to the underground lab.

Max and his friend Link create a diversion to keep the scientists busy while the rest of the team head towards the substation. However, things take a turn for the worse. Elementor, Max's arch-nemesis, appears and tries to take Max down, but Max and Steel manage to outsmart him. The two superheroes finally succeed in stopping the spread of the grey ooze by destroying the underground laboratory.
