Ep 28. I'M IN LOVE WITH A MAN WHO HURTS AND BEATS ME!

  • November 27, 2002

Maury Povich is back with another episode that promises to be emotional and heart-wrenching. This time, Maury's guests are women who are in love with men who beat and hurt them. The guests come from all walks of life, and they have one thing in common: they are trapped in abusive relationships.

The episode starts off with Maury introducing his guests. The first guest is a young woman named Abby, who has been dating her boyfriend, Jake, for a year. According to Abby, Jake is loving and caring, but he has a temper that he cannot control. Whenever Jake gets angry, he hits Abby, and she has bruises all over her body to prove it. Abby loves Jake, but she is afraid that one day he will hurt her so badly that she won't be able to recover.

The second guest is a middle-aged woman named Diane, who has been married to her husband, Steve, for 10 years. Diane says that Steve is a good provider and a loving father, but he has a dark side that he cannot hide. Whenever Steve gets drunk, he becomes violent and starts hitting Diane. Diane has tried to leave Steve several times, but he always manages to convince her to come back.

The third guest is a college student named Emily, who has been dating her boyfriend, Brian, for three months. Emily says that Brian is charming and funny, but he has a mean streak that she cannot ignore. Whenever Brian gets upset, he starts verbally abusing Emily, calling her names and telling her that she is worthless. Emily is in love with Brian, but she knows that his behavior is not normal.

As Maury listens to each guest's story, he becomes more and more outraged. He cannot believe that there are men out there who think it's okay to hurt and abuse the women they claim to love. Maury tells Abby, Diane, and Emily that they deserve better, and he encourages them to seek help.

Maury brings out an expert on domestic violence, who explains to the audience that many women who are in abusive relationships are often too scared to leave. The expert tells the audience that it's important to recognize the signs of abuse and to reach out for help before it's too late.

Maury then brings out Jake, Steve, and Brian to confront their partners. Jake starts off by apologizing to Abby and promising to never hurt her again. He tells Abby that he loves her and wants to make things right. Steve also apologizes to Diane, and he promises to seek help for his drinking problem. Brian, however, is not remorseful at all. He tells Emily that she's lucky to have him, and that she should be grateful for his attention.

As the show draws to a close, Maury urges the women to leave their abusive partners and start a new life. He tells them that they are worth more than the bruises and the hurt. Abby, Diane, and Emily all break down in tears, and they thank Maury for his support and encouragement.

In the end, Maury reminds the audience that domestic violence is a serious issue that affects millions of people around the world. He encourages anyone who is in an abusive relationship to seek help and to know that they are not alone.
