Maurice Sendak's Little Bear is a children's television show about a young bear named Little Bear and his adventures with his animal friends. In season 3, episode 4, titled "The Big Bear Sitter/Top of the World/The Campfire Tale," Little Bear and his friends embark on three different adventures.
In the first story, "The Big Bear Sitter," Little Bear's parents go away for the day and leave him in the care of his older cousin, Big Bear. Little Bear is excited to spend time with his cousin, but Big Bear is not exactly sure how to take care of a little bear. They play together, make some food, and even go on a walk, but things get a bit chaotic when Little Bear wants to play a game of "hidden treasure." Big Bear accidentally falls asleep, and Little Bear decides to play the game by himself. Chaos ensues when Big Bear wakes up to find Little Bear missing and starts to search for him. Eventually, they find each other and learn the importance of communication and responsibility.
In the second story, "Top of the World," Little Bear and his friends are trying to reach the top of the hill where they can see for miles around. They work together, helping each other climb up obstacles and cheering each other on when things get tough. Along the way, they discover a beautiful garden that is hidden away and decide to take a break to explore it. When they finally make it to the top, they realize that they can see all the way to Little Bear's house and begin to feel homesick. They decide to head back down and have a picnic in the garden they discovered along the way, where they can still see Little Bear's house in the distance.
In the third and final story, "The Campfire Tale," Little Bear and his friends are sitting around a campfire, sharing stories. Little Bear tells a story about a giant who lived in the forest, while Emily, his friend, shares a story about a family of ducks who find a new home. Duck tells a cautionary tale about a fish who gets too curious for its own good and ends up in the clutches of a hungry bird. Finally, Owl tells a story about a magical tree that grants wishes. Little Bear and his friends are fascinated by the stories and the campfire burns brightly through the night.
Overall, "The Big Bear Sitter/Top of the World/The Campfire Tale" is a heartwarming and entertaining episode of Maurice Sendak's Little Bear. The stories are fun and engaging, teaching important lessons about communication, cooperation, and imagination. This is a great episode for young children who love animals and enjoy stories about friendship and adventure.
