Hawkeye and B.J. play a prank on Winchester by ordering a joke book in his name, but the joke is on them when Winchester becomes immune to their humor and steals all their punchlines. Meanwhile, Father Mulcahy tries to teach a GI to read and write, and Klinger tries to set up a date for a visiting journalist with Charles. But when the journalist turns out to be male, Klinger must convince him that he is not interested in a romantic relationship. As the episode progresses, each character faces their own moral dilemma and must learn to look beyond their own prejudices and assumptions. Ultimately, they discover that laughter and compassion go hand in hand, and that in the midst of a war, sometimes the biggest joke is life itself. The episode ends with a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who served in the Korean War, reminding us all of the sacrifices made by those who answered the call to duty.
