Ep 9. Mr. and Mrs. Who?

In the eighth season's ninth episode of M*A*S*H, titled "Mr. and Mrs. Who?," we see the medical team of the 4077th receive a new patient, a Korean couple. The husband, Mr. Kim, was shot in the shoulder and his wife, Mrs. Kim, was wounded by shrapnel. As the doctors treat the couple, they soon discover that Mrs. Kim is illiterate and does not even know her own name. The doctors and nurses of the 4077th affectionately refer to the couple as "Mr. and Mrs. Who?"

The team tries to communicate with Mrs. Kim and figure out her background. They soon learn that she was sold to Mr. Kim by her family when she was very young. The marriage was not a happy one, and Mrs. Kim was mistreated by her husband. After being told of Mrs. Kim's past, the medical staff decides that she is better off without Mr. Kim and that they will try to help her escape.

As they begin to plan Mrs. Kim's escape, they run into a few obstacles. The North Korean soldiers are not allowing any Koreans to leave the area because of the ongoing war. The team decides to use one of the U.N. trucks to smuggle Mrs. Kim out of the area. However, when they arrive at the checkpoint, the North Koreans discover that there is no driver for the truck.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kim is getting better, and he begins to worry about his wife. After a heated argument with Hawkeye, Mr. Kim becomes suspicious of their intentions and begins to suspect that they are planning something. When he demands answers, the team is forced to come clean and explain what they're doing. Mr. Kim becomes irate and threatens to harm his wife if they try to take her away.

The episode then becomes a race against time as Hawkeye and the rest of the medical team try to figure out a way to help Mrs. Kim escape before Mr. Kim can harm her. After a few failed attempts, they finally come up with a plan that involves dressing a female soldier as Mrs. Kim and having her exit through the checkpoint, leaving the real Mrs. Kim behind. The plan works, and the team is able to get Mrs. Kim to safety.

The episode concludes with the team discussing how they were able to help Mrs. Kim, but they also acknowledge that there are many more women like her who are victims of abuse and forced marriages. The episode ends on a somber note, reminding us of the harsh realities of war and the impact it has on innocent civilians.
